Again, time flies, how is it that I have not posted in three weeks? Life, family, work, research, and client work take preference. Now that
the weather is getting warmer work began at the Evangelical Protestant
Cemetery. Seven stones were either up righted or re leveled this past week. We
hope this progress can continue. On site and online research plus answering
many queries are keeping me busy also.
In May and June, I will give three presentations, locally. One, on basic gravestone restoration. Two, on the restoration of the
van Rensselaer family burial grounds in East Greenbush. Three, researching your
Dutch ancestors from home. Details for these presentations are below.
Gravestone
Cleaning and Restoration
Have you ever seen that unreadable gravestone or that
toppled monument and wondered “what can I do to address its condition?” There
is a correct way and a wrong way to remedy that gravestone. The program will
detail gravestone conservation including cleaning, repair, what to do, what NOT
to do, when to do nothing, and when to seek the help of a professional
conservator.
