PolishFest
May 31- June 2, 2013
The Capital District’s PolishFest is a celebration of Polish heritage – the food, music, art, language, customs and the culture of the Polish people. The annual Festival is held on the grounds of Blessed Virgin Mary of Czestochowa Church conveniently located at 250 Old Maxwell Rd., Latham, NY just off I-87.
The Festival features a vast array of favorite traditional Polish foods, including pierogi (stuffed dumplings), golabki (cabbage rolls), kielbasa (sausage), Bigos (hunter stew), Borscht (beet soup) and a huge assortment of gourmet Polish desserts lovingly prepared by our parishioners. Music and traditional Polish dances entertain festival-goers throughout the day.

Welcome to Geneabloggers! I noticed one of your links was Old Fulton New York Postcards. I could not remember that one last night when I wanted to go to it. I also love Ancestry.com, Family Search.org, and Find a Grave. I use them a lot and recommend them to others on my blog. Lately I've been posting about the Civil War.

Thank you... I use those resources often.
DeleteJust found your blog today, courtesy of GeneaBloggers. What a great resource you have! Best wishes as you continue this project and further your research.
ReplyDeleteI just read an article today about a Polish fest in Kansas that may close because the Polish descendants of the town have all moved away. It's good to hear that Polish fests continue elsewhere...it's so wonderful to have an opportunity to celebrate other cultures!
ReplyDeleteThat is sad that the fest might be canceled. Here in Albany and its surrounding Capital District we are fortunate to have numerous ethnic festivals throughout the year. Irish, German, Italian, Polish, Greek, Armenian, African-American, and Latin-Americans all have their own events. As I hear of these events I will be posting them on this blog.
DeleteWe would love to have a genealogy workshop at PolishFest in coming years, but we had a very hard time finding leaders. If anyone is interested in volunteering to head this up next year, we would welcome the addition to our team!
ReplyDeleteHi, that is a great idea. Unfortunately I know of no one who is knowledgable on Polish research. Your best bet would be to contact someone from the Capital District Genealogy Society. Their webpag is http://www.capitaldistrictgenealogicalsociety.org/ and they might be able to help you with this. Thanks and good luck!
