Saturday's Society : Capital District Irish American Association

This week's Saturday Society profiles the Capital District Irish American Association (CDIAA). The association is located at 375 Ontario Street, Albany, NY in the former Knights of Columbus hall. From its web site:

The Capital District Irish American Association is a Capital Region membership organization established in 2002. The CDIAA is a warm, friendly gathering place that features a cozy Irish pub, commercial kitchen, large banquet hall, small dining room and lots of activities and events going on all year. Most Friday nights feature live music in the pub with drink specials and food prepared by our very own chef.

Our facility serves as home to several organizations including:
  • Albany Rebels Gaelic Football Club
  • Ancient Order of Hibernians
  • Capital District Set Dancers
  • CDIAA Dart League
  • Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann
  • Farrell School of Irish Dance
  • Knights of Columbus
  • Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians
CDIAA works with these groups and many more to promote Irish culture, food, music, dance, and history events. Lectures, classes, and entertainers keep alive the history, music, and traditions that represent the best of Irish heritage. Other events include the "Dick Conners Luncheon" on the first Thursday of each month and Irish Set Dancing, Tuesdays at 7 PM.

Membership is not limited to any ethnicity, religion, or gender. Our membership is open to all individuals who want to learn more about, or become an active participant in any aspect of Irish culture.
