About

Born, raised, and educated in Albany. My wife and I moved to East Greenbush in 2002 with our two daughters. Since 1991, I work full time for National Grid. In 1996, I returned to college at SUNY Albany, receiving an undergraduate Bachelors in History in 2001 and later graduated with a Masters in history in 2005.

Always interested in history; especially my own family history and genealogy. I began tracing my family tree in 1980 as a middle school social studies project and continued researching sporadically after 1996 when I returned to college and my research then became sporadic until 2011 when I returned in full force to genealogy.

From 2002 through 2012 I was heavily involved in the German-American community through my efforts in the German-American Club of Albany.

After being away from cemeteries for a while, I noticed that the grave site of one of my great great great grandparents was in desperate need of attention, all of the gravestones in the plot had toppled and all of the bases were un-level. Learning as much as I could from Internet searches as to the right and wrong way to repair gravestones; I began rehabbing all of my ancestors and relatives gravestones that needed attention. Taking my time and also attending rehab seminars from a professional gravestone conservator I learned the proper methods of gravestone conservation.

Genealogical & historical associations that I belong to include:
Association for Gravestone Studies
Association of Professional Genealogists
Capital District Genealogical Society
East Greenbush Historical Society
National Genealogical Society
New England Historic Genealogical Society
New York Genealogical & Biographical Society
Palatines to America German Genealogy Society
Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War
Troy Irish Genealogy Society
Watervliet Historical Society

At some point I intend to work towards becoming a certified genealogist (CG). In the near future, I will be enrolling in the Boston College Certificate in Genealogical Research online program. Other historical interests include graveyard conservation and rehab; local and New York State history; and old homes and architecture.

See the Genealogical & Gravestone Restoration Services tab for further information on client based research.
