Hudson River Maritime Museum

Anyone who has ancestors who worked on the Hudson River should check the website of the Hudson River Maritime Museum (HRMM) and consider a visit to the museum itself. The HRMM was established in 1980 and is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the maritime history of the Hudson River, its tributaries, and related industries. It is the only museum in New York State exclusively dedicated to this mission.



The museum has collected artifacts include historic vessels, objects, archival material and art related to Hudson River transportation, industries and recreation such as paintings, prints, photographs, ephemera, blueprints, artifacts, ship models, a 100-year old shad boat, life boats, lighthouse tender and ice yachts. The HRMM shares its knowledge, research, and collections through public events, lectures, education programs and activities, exhibitions, and publications. 

Today, the museum features annual exhibits, free public events, educational programs for adults and children alike, continually updated and improved by both staff and volunteers. ​
